The article offers information on the definitions of the Arctic which is commonly defined as the land and sea area north of the Arctic Circle. The Arctic Circle definition including the northernmost third or so of Alaska, Chukchi Sea, and the U.S. territorial and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) waters north of Alaska. It discusses the definition under the U.S. Arctic Research and Policy Act (ARPA) of 1984.
