Abstract

The article presents a roundtable discussion with U.S. President Barack Obama and African American prima ballerina Misty Copeland who discuss various topics including race, beauty, and the efforts to break barriers in America. The documentary film "A Ballerina's Take" about Copeland is examined, along with her role as the first black principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre. Female role models and racial discrimination in the U.S. are assessed, along with multiracial families.
