Abstract

Textile-reinforced composites made from 3D warp-knitted textiles and polyurethane (PUR) foams offer innovative solutions as new types of lightweight construction materials. The potential offered by innovative composites has already been illustrated by studying warp-knitted spacer textiles and soft, elastic foams [1]. The scientific/technical research has been continued at the TU Chemnitz as part of the BMBF project, "PaFaTherm II", in order to investigate the processing conditions and resulting material characteristics of composites made from 3D warp-knitted textiles and hard PUR foams.
