Abstract

The article discusses research concerning the characteristics of pruritus in patients with an autosomal dominant disease called neurofibromatosis (NF)1. It highlights the characterization of NF1 by tumour formation resulting to generation of neurofibromas, optic gliomas and malignant peripheral nerve tumours. Symptoms of neuropathic pruritus including allodynia, paraesthesias and hypoaesthesia, are also mentioned.
