Abstract: The article presents a study of the needs of paediatric patient organizations (PPOs) in Spain, aimed at identifying opportunities to enhance health services through information and communications technology (ICT). The study is part of the APTIC, a pilot online health community project for PPOs and families. Results showed that the major needs of PPOs are to provide accredited and managed information, improve personal support and assistance and the promotion of joint commitment to healthcare.
