Abstract
- The article presents a cross-sectional qualitative focus group study on how patients respond to telephone access barriers to care, providing recommendations for system improvement within a large integrated health-care system. It suggests that telephone access barriers could lead to increased patient harm and/or increased wait times for emergency services or in-person primary care, highlighting the need for periodic evaluation of telephone systems to reduce such barriers.
