Abstract
- The article reports on the move by wireless company Verizon to merge its cellular telephone tracking supercookie with the ad tracking network of mass media company AOL. The merger will allow the ad network to match millions of Internet users to their real-world details collected by Verizon. Privacy advocates claim that the use of an identifier that tracks mobile device users by Verizon and AOL is problematic because it allows invasive tracking and sends the information unencrypted.
