Abstract
- Discusses the 1945 Amerasia case, where people associated with the left-wing magazine "Amerasia" were arrested by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and charged with conspiring to pass secrets to a foreign power. Focus on the high-level conspiracy to fix the case; Possibility of involvement of Tommy Corcoran, a former presidential aide in fixing of the case; Collaboration between Chinese Nationalists and U.S. State Department official John Stewart Service and his supporters to prevent courtroom proceedings; Statement that the U.S.'s reestablishment of ties with China in 1972 marked complete vindication of Service; View of the conservatives that the grand jury's failure to indict Service was the result of political manipulation to protect communist sympathizers high in the government.
