Abstract

The article discusses research which claimed that texting is harmful to literacy skills of children. It references a study by N. Kemp and C. Bushnell, published in a 2011 issue of the "Journal of Computer Assisted Learning." The researchers conducted a standardized evaluation of reading and spelling abilities of children and several tasks on a mobile phone. The study suggests that texting by children has no negative impact on their spelling and reading abilities.
