Abstract

An essay is presented discussing the significance and lasting influence of the 20th-century German physicist Albert Einstein and his theories of relativity. Topics addressed include reflections on how an individual could have such a disproportionate influence on the development of science, an overview of the history of Einstein's scientific career, and how much contemporary research has primarily drawn or expanded upon many of Einstein's earlier theories.
