Abstract

The article discusses corporal punishment in relation to the intersection of religion and child protection laws in America, and it mentions several of the complexities that multidisciplinary teams of child protection professional encounter when corporal punishment is used by parents in the name of God. The influence of Christianity on corporal punishment practices is examined, along with conservative and liberal Protestant teachings and the legal aspects of child discipline.
