Abstract

The article discusses how violent homophobia continues to be a problem in several African nations while gay rights are increasing in places such as the U.S. as of 2015. According to a report issued by the Pew Research Center, the vast majority of Africans in countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda claim that homosexuality is unacceptable. The criminalization of homosexuality in Africa is examined, along with the work of LGBT activist Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera in Uganda.
