Abstract

Describes a case of human anaplasmosis presenting as atypical pneumonitis in France. Prevalence of Anaplasma phagoytophilum in ticks; Detection of the bacterium by polymerase chain reaction in Ixodes ricinus from most regions of Europe; Need to add A. phagocytophilum to the list of agents responsible for interstitial pneumonitis especially in areas where human anaplasmosis is endemic.
