Abstract: A biography of German poet and novelist Joseph von Eichendorff is presented. He was born March 10, 1788 in Lubowitz, Prussia and raised in Schloss Lubowitz, his family's castle. Information is provided on his service in the army during the Napoleonic Wars before starting a career in civil service while writing novels, poems, and essays. Details are included on his travels across Germany before his death on November 26, 1857. A brief analysis of his major works is included.
