Abstract

This paper presents the results of a Panhellenic study that was conducted after competition by the University of Western Macedonia on behalf of the former Migration Institute Policy (IMEPO) in Greece to depict the needs of second generation immigrant students in Greece. The results of the study are presented for the first time in this paper. The sample of the study included 1,647 (N1) second generation immigrant students, 1,334 (N2) teachers working at primary and secondary education schools throughout Greece, and 40 (N3) immigrant students studying in tertiary education departments. The results of this study are of interest to an international readership for two reasons: to realize the current education provisions needing to be addressed for second generation immigrant students in Greece and to reflect on the progressive steps that the key providers should consider for intercultural education policies.
