Abstract
- The article focuses on psychological aspects of circumcision. According to the author, man has never been satisfied with his physical body. Circumcision is one instance of those strange and varied ritual mutilation which express vividly his intense desire to conform to an ideal image. The author presents discussion on significance of major themes evident in varying contents of a young man's preoccupation with circumcision. Features of the preoccupation are described as they were revealed in psychoanalysis.
