Abstract

The article focuses on the 63rd Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association held in Boston, Massachusetts on August 26-29, 1968. The first meeting of the 1968 Council convened on August 25, 1968. In this meeting, the presence of a stenotypist to provide a record for information purposes only was noted and approved by the council. The secretary read the last financial statement of the association, indicating the amount of long and short term investments. The Executive Officer reported that more than 200 signatures had been received in support of a section on sociology of organizations and occupations, and that the Committee on Sections has recommended to the council that the organizers of the new section be authorized to proceed with such matters as the formulation of By-Laws and the formation of a Committee on Nominations, in order that a business meeting and program for the section could be held at the next Annual Meeting. The report of the Committee on Awards and Prizes was also discussed.
