- The article focuses on the leisure activities and hobbies that scientists partake in. The author discusses the competitive nature of job promotions and funding within the field of science, explores why interests outside of scientific work is important to a scientist's work-life balance, and examines several hobbies, including boxing, mountain climbing, and stand-up comedy.
