Abstract

The article reports on the Malaspina Circumnavigation Expedition organized by the Spanish National Research Council, involving 400 scientist and 700 persons with the goal of assessing and exploring the 21st century oceans using new innovation tools. The project also aims to balance cooperation and competition among Spanish marine research groups.
