Abstract

The problem of reducing the switching losses for high-power converters is analyzed. A reduction in the dynamic losses helps improve the basic energy characteristics of a converter and reduce its overall dimensions and mass. Three-phase inverter designs in which the switching losses are minimized through the use of resonant switches with an oscillator circuit on the ac side are presented. It is demonstrated that, at high voltages and currents, one should use only those types of resonant switches in which the resonant inductor and the auxiliary switch are removed from the power current circuit of a converter. The practical efficiency of resonant switches of the type under review is evaluated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
