Abstract

The article discusses French political scholar, philosopher, and historian Alexis de Tocqueville and how he has become the inspiration behind the Chinese government's new thinking on how to modernize its administration and avoid a revolution within the context of China's societal transformation. The author analyzes de Tocqueville's thoughts about the question of revolution by referring to his books "L'Ancien Régime et la Révolution" and "Souvenirs." It mentions the reception of "L'Ancien Régime et la Révolution" in China since 2012 and notes that it was recommended by Wang Qishan, a leader of the Chinese Communist Party. De Tocqueville's book "De la démocratie en Amérique" is also mentioned.
