The authors comment on the article "BMI Cut Points to Identify At-Risk Asian Americans for Type 2 Diabetes Screening" by W. C. Hsu and colleagues in a 2015 issue. Particular focus is given to the common stereotype of Asian Americans, as well as the lack of data on the disease burden among these populations. According to the authors, federal and state levels of cooperation are needed to obtain data on health conditions affecting Asian Americans.
