Abstract: The article discusses a study which investigated protein families presents in saliva of patients with Down's Syndrome. The study used reverse-phased high-performance liquid chromatography electrospray ionization (RP-HLPC-ESI) mass spectrometry in the separation and detection of proteins and peptides. Results showed high levels of Psoriasin (S100A7) and alfa-defensins in whole saliva from the patients.
