Abstract

The author reflects on a report titled "eThe Forgotten Children: National Inquiry into Children in Immigration Detention (2014)" that was released by Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) in February 2015. The study finds that the prolonged detention has negative effects on children's mental health and development. It mentions that the report got support from United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) .
