Abstract
- A shape memory alloy with medical applications was analyzed by corrosion point of view in Fusayama artificial solution after few thousand experimental cycles. Scanning electrons microscope, EDAX and potentiostat equipments were used to characterize the material surface and its behavior during and after an electric polarization. Pitting corrosion type was observed on the surface with accentuated aspects based on the fatigue process. Dimensional characterization of the pitting holes was realized using 2D and 3D imaging software possibilities and chemical modifications were analyzed in and near the corrosion marks.
