Abstract: The article reports on several studies about wrist arthroplasty. Topics discussed include the use of a calcium phosphate coating to improve bone ingrowth and fixation, the patterns of bone fixation with hydroxyapatite and the steps involved in total wrist replacement and wrist arthroplasty. Also discussed are the biomechanics of the wrist, the therapeutic options for inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis and the causes and treatment options for radiocarpal degeneration.
