Abstract

The article presents the author's views on the use of big data by businesses. He states that businesses collect personal data from customers who use their loyalty card which records their purchases in exchange for discounts. The data reportedly helps businesses to create customized marketing campaigns, identify markets for future products, and streamline customer movements while shopping. He comments that big data allows businesses to discover things that people do not know about themselves.
