Abstract

The article reports on the findings of the British National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) trials of educational interventions for literacy improvement. Details are given outlining the structures of the Catch Up Literacy programme and Talk for Literacy intervention, the testing methodologies used by NFER to evaluate them, and key findings identifying where the interventions succeeded and failed.
