Abstract

We compiled data base containing the particulate matter (PM) measurements for St.- Petersburg megacity air within last 40 years (1973 - 2013). Its design allows replenishing with new data for subsequent years. This data base can be used in decision support systems, modeling and validation. In paper we described used methods and means of PM measurements, spatial and temporal statistical characteristics of PM. For the first time, we made the statistical processing of PM data from the dynamical systems theory positions. For the first time, we assessed the contents of black carbon in the air of St. Petersburg area on the base of PM data. We compared our assessments with the similar results of studies in the world and found considerable overlap.
