Abstract
- The article discusses the history of the Gyro International Club social organization in relation to municipal playground development and urban reform in Edmonton, Alberta between 1921 and 1944. According to the article, Gyro Club playgrounds were intended to enrich urban childhood and build neighborly communities. It states that the male members of the Gyro Club in Edmonton, Alberta reproduced their own middle-class values through social relations. Child welfare reforms in Canada are examined.
