Abstract
- The paper deals with quantitative study of bone healing in goat after unilateral oblique osteotomy of the mandibular ramus. Bone histomorphometry combined with tetracycline bone labelling and gamma monophoton absorptiometry were used to assess the rate of the new bone formation and its degree of mineralization during the healing process. The result showed that if the articular capsule and the lateral pterygoid muscle were remained and attached, the quantity of new trabaculae and the rate of bone healing in the inferior part of proximal fragment were less than those in the superior part (P < 0.05). There was a bone healing delay in the inferior part of proximal fragment.
