Abstract
- Describes the main features of an inflammatory process and the contribution of inflammation mediators to its development. Antiinflammatory drugs may be divided into two groups: corticosteroids and nonsteroid antiinflammatory agents. The advantages and drawbacks of corticosteroid therapy of ocular diseases are discussed and indications for and contraindications against the use of some drugs are enumerated. The main dosage forms of nonsteroid antiinflammatory drugs for the eyes are presented and indications for their use listed.
