Abstract: The concentrations of trace elements were determined in 70 wines by activation analysis and investigated as a function of location, grape variety and vintage year. It is possible using numerical taxonomy to cluster all the wines of one region by their greater similarity in trace element patterns. It is too early for a definative evaluation of the limits of this method.
