Abstract: Diagnostic laparoscopy under local anaesthesia for acute pain in the right iliac fossa in an old man is reported. Exploring the abdominal cavity under local anaesthesia is an excellent method for establishing a diagnosis in doubtful abdominal pain presentation. This technically easy procedure may avoid up to 45% of unnecessary laparotomies and related complications.
