Abstract

Reactions on <superscript>nat</superscript> Zr induced by alpha-particles with energies up to 60 MeV were studied by stacked foils method. Production cross-sections for zirconium ( <superscript>88,89,95</superscript> Zr), niobium ( <superscript>90,92m,95m,95,96</superscript> Nb) and molybdenum ( <superscript>90,93m,99</superscript> Mo) radionuclides were determined and thick target yields were calculated. The possibility of obtaining <superscript>90</superscript> Nb through the intermediate formation of <superscript>90</superscript> Mo is discussed. It is possible to obtain 19.6 MBq/(μA·h) <superscript>90</superscript> Mo upon saturation, that leads to 4 MBq/(μA·h) <superscript>90</superscript> Nb after decay.<br />Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper.<br /> (Copyright © 2024 Elsevier Ltd.
