Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive overview of Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT) with an emphasis on laboratory testing and advantages of automation. HIT is a critical condition arising from heparin exposure, leading to a contradictory combination of thrombocytopenia with an increased thrombosis risk. The article discusses HIT's history, clinical presentation, laboratory diagnosis, and management strategies.
