Abstract

The incidence of insulin-induced amyloidosis distant from an injection site is unknown. Due to its rare nature, only a few case reports have been reported, with even fewer describing amyloidoma as distant from the insulin injection site. We present a case of a 52-year-old male with a left arm mass that was determined to be cutaneous amyloidosis and successfully treated with total excision of the mass. Histopathological examination with Congo red stain demonstrated classic characteristics of amyloidosis. We present this case report to increase awareness of this relatively rare occurrence.<br />Competing Interests: Human subjects: Consent was obtained or waived by all participants in this study. Community Memorial Health System (CMHS) Institutional Review Board issued approval CMHS IRB 2023-CR307. After review, CMHS IRB has determined that the case report does not meet the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) definition of research. Conflicts of interest: In compliance with the ICMJE uniform disclosure form, all authors declare the following: Payment/services info: All authors have declared that no financial support was received from any organization for the submitted work. Financial relationships: All authors have declared that they have no financial relationships at present or within the previous three years with any organizations that might have an interest in the submitted work.
