Abstract: A novel modified nucleoside located in the first position of the anticodon of yeast tRNAVal2a was isolated and its chemical structure was characterized as 5-carbamoylmethyluridine by means of ultraviolet absorption spectrum, mass spectrum, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum.
