Abstract

We report the case of a 28-year-old woman who presented with acute liver failure from suspected drug-induced liver injury. She was not vaccinated against COVID-19 and expressed considerable reluctance to become vaccinated, prompting discussions within the transplant group regarding her candidacy. She received a liver transplant and acquired COVID-19 immediately post-operatively that was treated with sotrovimab. She recovered well and was discharged shortly following her transplant. This case suggests that unwillingness to receive COVID-19 vaccination pre-transplant should not represent an absolute contraindication to a life-saving liver transplantation.<br /> (Copyright © 2022 Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver.)
