Abstract
- Hallux valgus is a common foot deformity in which many surgical techniques have been introduced. Originally, Paul Lapidus detailed a midfoot arthrodesis technique to address the deformity and medial column instability that served as the foundation for the modified Lapidus bunionectomy. The appreciation of the multiplanar nature of hallux valgus deformity continues to evolve and helps to guide the investigation of the ideal surgical correction to yield more predictable results and reduced complications. Various fixation constructs have been used over the years for the Lapidus bunionectomy without a clear superior fixation technique, and literature supports early weight-bearing with each.<br /> (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier Inc.
