Abstract

More than a decade after the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials group released a reporting items checklist for non-inferiority randomized controlled trials, the infectious diseases literature continues to underreport these items. Trialists, journals, and peer reviewers should redouble their efforts to ensure infectious diseases studies meet these minimum reporting standards.
Competing Interests: Potential conflicts of interest . A. K. K. reports receipt of an honorarium from Gilead for a regional review lecture on the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections; M. S. reports grant funding unrelated to this publication from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Air Canada (COVID-19 in International Travelers Study: staff and reagent costs), and the Ontario Research Fund for COVID research (COVID Automation: equipment costs); and M. L. reports a contract with the WHO to help update antibiotics in the Essential Medicines List. All other authors report no potential conflicts. All authors have submitted the ICMJE Form for Disclosure of Potential Conflicts of Interest. Conflicts that the editors consider relevant to the content of the manuscript have been disclosed.
(© The Author(s) 2023.
