Abstract
- Evaluation and staging of liver disease is essential in the clinical decision-making process of liver tumors. The severity of portal hypertension (PH) is the main prognostic factor in advanced liver disease. Performing an accurate hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) measurement is not always possible, especially when veno-venous communications are present. In those complex cases, a refinement in HVPG measurement with a thorough evaluation of each of the components of PH is mandatory. We aimed at describing how some technical modifications and complementary procedures may contribute to an accurate and complete clinical evaluation to improve therapeutic decisions.<br /> (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier España, S.L.U.
