Abstract
- Maternal mortality is a worldwide epidemic, with rates in the United States far surpassing those in similar high-income countries, and years of implicit bias and systemic racism have impacted outcomes for individuals belonging to racial and ethnic minorities. Structural racism must be dismantled to ensure better care for all.<br />Competing Interests: Declaration of interests S.R. reports serving as a consultant for Roche Diagnostics, Thermo Fisher, Beckman Coulter, and Siemens and has received research funding from Roche Diagnostics and Siemens for work related to angiogenic biomarkers that is completely unrelated to this work.
