Abstract

Magnesium is an important nutrient for plants, but much is still unknown about plant Mg2+ transporters. Combining with the structural prediction of AlphaFold2, we used mutagenesis and 28Mg uptake assay to study the highly conserved "GMN" motif of Arabidopsis thaliana MRS2-1 (AtMRS2-1) transporter. We demonstrated that the glycine and methionine in GMN motif are essential for AtMRS2-1 to transport Mg2+.<br /> (© The Author(s) 2022.
