Abstract

Using TiO <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>4</subscript> with a pyrazole ligand for one-pot LA polymerization improved catalytic activity compared with using TiO <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>4</subscript> only. At 60 °C, TiO <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>4</subscript> with <superscript>fur</superscript> Pz exhibited a higher catalytic activity (approximately 3-fold) than TiO <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>4</subscript> . At room temperature, TiO <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>4</subscript> with <superscript>Bu</superscript> Pz exhibited a higher catalytic activity (approximately 17-fold) than TiO <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>4</subscript> . High molecular mass PLA ( M <subscript>n <subscript>GPC</subscript> </subscript> = 51 100, and Đ = 1.10) could be produced by using TiO <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>4</subscript> with <superscript>fur</superscript> Pz in melt polymerization ([TiO <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>4</subscript> ] : [ <superscript>fur</superscript> Pz] = 1000 : 1 : 1 at 100 °C, 240 min). The crystal structure of <superscript>Me</superscript> Pz <subscript>2</subscript> Ti <subscript>2</subscript> O <superscript>i</superscript> Pr <subscript>7</subscript> revealed the cooperative activation between two Ti atoms during LA polymerization.<br />Competing Interests: There are no conflicts to declare.<br /> (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)
