Abstract

The coexistence of field-induced slow magnetic relaxation and moderately large magnetocaloric efficiency in the supra-Kelvin temperature region occurs in the 2D compound [Gd(ox) <subscript>3</subscript> (H <subscript>2</subscript> O) <subscript>6</subscript> ] <subscript>n</subscript> ·4nH <subscript>2</subscript> O (1), a feature that can be exploited in the proof-of-concept design of a new class of slow-relaxing magnetic materials for cryogenic magnetic refrigeration.
