Abstract

<superscript>15</superscript> N spin-lattice relaxation dynamics in metronidazole- <superscript>15</superscript> N <subscript>3</subscript> and metronidazole- <superscript>15</superscript> N <subscript>2</subscript> isotopologues are studied for rational design of <superscript>15</superscript> N-enriched biomolecules for signal amplification by reversible exchange in microtesla fields. <superscript>15</superscript> N relaxation dynamics mapping reveals the deleterious effects of interactions with the polarization transfer catalyst and a quadrupolar <superscript>14</superscript> N nucleus within the spin-relayed <superscript>15</superscript> N- <superscript>15</superscript> N network.
