Abstract
- Osteoporosis continues to be a major public health challenge in both women and men. There are more than 2 million low-impact fractures in the United States every year, 39% of which occur in men. The mortality rate in the first year after hip fracture is estimated at 20% to 25% in women and is even higher in men. The goal of this Views and Reviews is to provide an update regarding bone metabolism and contemporary approaches to prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.<br /> (Copyright © 2019 American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
