Abstract

We have prepared the indium(III)-centered, all-acetate-capped polyoxopalladate(II) nanocube [InPd <subscript>12</subscript> O <subscript>8</subscript> (OAc) <subscript>16</subscript> ] <superscript>5-</superscript> ( InPd <subscript> 12 </subscript> Ac <subscript> 16 </subscript> ), which can be further used as precursor to form the phosphate-capped (i) double-cube [In <subscript>2</subscript> Pd <subscript>23</subscript> O <subscript>17</subscript> (OH)(PO <subscript>4</subscript> ) <subscript>12</subscript> (PO <subscript>3</subscript> OH)] <superscript>21-</superscript> ( In <subscript> 2 </subscript> Pd <subscript> 23 </subscript> P <subscript> 13 </subscript> ) and (ii) monocube [InPd <subscript>12</subscript> O <subscript>8</subscript> (PO <subscript>4</subscript> ) <subscript>8</subscript> ] <superscript>13-</superscript> ( InPd <subscript> 12 </subscript> P <subscript> 8 </subscript> ). All three novel polyoxopalladates (POPs) were synthesized using conventional one-pot techniques in aqueous solution and characterized in the solid state (single-crystal XRD, IR, elemental analysis), in solution ( <superscript>115</superscript> In, <superscript>31</superscript> P, and <superscript>13</superscript> C NMR), and in the gas phase (ESI-MS).
