Abstract
- Bariatric surgery is developing parallel to the increasing prevalence of severe obesity. Patient' care is guided by professional recommendations highlighting the key-role of multidisciplinary team in perioperative management. The clinical pathway, particularly adapted for bariatric surgery, allows the optimization of resources allocation and healthcare planning while improving the quality and efficiency (performance) of healthcare. The assessment (and adjustments) of clinical pathways allows measuring the impact of quality of care, patients' outcome and the effectiveness of healthcare. Additionally, the development of a clinical pathway fosters multidisciplinary team cohesion around the project.<br /> (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.)
